If you have a need of loading up huge volumes of data using SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services), then take a look at this whitepaper from MSFT – they loaded up 1TB of data in under 30 minutes. Now, guaranteed that you will more than likely not have a set up similar to what they had but still it gives us a peak into package design, networking details and system set up will help when we are doing huge data loads ourselves. An interesting read.
