Specifying port number in the connection String

Posted by decipherinfosys on February 13, 2007

Just a little tidbit.  This is how you specify a port in the connection string for SQL Server: Say, you are running SQL Server on a port other than the default (1433):

oConn.Open “Provider=sqloledb;” & _
“Data Source=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx,1488;” & _
“Initial Catalog=myDatabaseName;” & _
“User ID=myUsername;” & _
“Password=myPassword;”
